Congratulations! If you're here, it’s likely that your application has been approved, and your permit, registration, or license has been issued! If that’s the case, you might be wondering where to find your document. Don’t worry, we’ll guide you through that!

Whenever an application is approved and a document is generated, there are a few ways to access your document.

It's important to note that contractors or any other linked roles do not receive notifications or access to the application unless they have been explicitly shared access via the 'Share' button. Always ensure collaborators are correctly granted access if you'd like them to be notified of progress updates

1. Check your email! ✉️

Each time an application is approved and a new document is generated, you should receive a copy of the document attached to the confirmation email. If you can’t find this email, be sure to check your spam folder and adjust your spam filters to allow emails from the domain '@app.govwelltech.com.'

2. Check your GovWell portal! 💡

Alternatively, you can find and download any files uploaded to your application record — including the files you uploaded during the process — by locating your application in the Records view. Click on the Files tab, then click the file name under Generated Documents to open and download the document.

There is also a 'Download' button next to your uploaded files, allowing you to download them easily.

If there are no generated documents available for a permit in GovWell, this typically indicates that the permit has not been issued yet. Generated documents such as permits only become accessible once they are officially issued by the jurisdiction staff. Similarly, if corrections are made to an already issued license and the document is regenerated, this does not trigger an automatic email notification. However, the updated license becomes readily accessible in the 'Files' section of the application.

If you'd like to learn more about the 'Files' tab and all the other tabs in your application, feel free to check out our Managing your Applications article!
