GovWell now allows you to easily update your application forms using our AI-powered Configuration Assistant! This useful tool enables you to seamlessly configure your application forms without the need to learn and navigate the many buttons and checkboxes that typically are needed to do that, or the need to reach out to a member of our team.

▢️ Check out the video below to see the AI Configuration Assistant in action!

πŸ” Where to find your AI Configuration Assistant

Let's get started! In order to use your AI Configuration Assistant, first we need to determine which application we want to work on. In this case, let's work in a Miscellaneous application, within the Building module in our Sandbox environment.

Look for the 'Permits' page in your module block - in this case, the Building block - and click the downwards arrow next to 'Create Record' and select 'Create Test Record'

The AI Assistant only appears in Test Record application forms!

In this example we're going to select the 'Miscellaneous' application type.

Your AI Configuration Assistant will appear on the right side of your Test Record Application

✏️ Using the AI Configuration Assistant

Using the AI Configuration Assistant is incredibly easy! In the chat window, start by writing down the change you'd like to make to your application form. In this case, let's try to add an 'Addition' option in the Project Type radio field.

First, we'll write down our instruction and send it to the assistant.

The assistant will analyze the instruction and return a proposed action. Any proposed actions will be saved as a draft for review - in this case, the assistant has proposed the action to add the 'Addition' option to the 'Project Type' field, which will result in the field having three options instead of two.

If you want to adjust the proposed action or want to request more changes, simply ask the assistant!

πŸ’‘ Adding more draft changes won't erase previously proposed changes

Once you're ready to review the changes, click 'Review pending draft change' or the '# draft changes' to review the changes and accept/reject them.

After confirming the changes, simply refresh the form to see them!

πŸ’‘ Quick tip:

Use the 'Common Requests' button to explore some examples of what the assistant can do for you!

πŸ€” How does it work?

Following logic based and natural language instructions, our Configuration Assistant transforms your ideas into actions. Instead of selecting options from a dropdown menu or adding fields one by one, simply tell the Configuration Assistant what you want and it will come up with a proposed change that fits your needs.

This makes it much easier to put your ideas into practice - the need to intensively learn how to operate the configuration features in our product is reduced, letting you simply verbalize your ideas into an assistant that can perform these tasks on your behalf.

The amount of different pages and functions you need to navigate through in order to update a form is massively reduced with the use of the Configuration Assistant.

🀩 Best practices and examples

With this language based approach, there are a multitude of possibilities to explore! The assistant is only deployed to edit application forms currently, meaning it's not yet available to update the below just yet:

  • Workflows

  • Fee Templates

  • Document Templates

  • Inspection Templates

  • Code Books

These are areas of our product that we aim to expand the assistant's capabilities to in the future - we'll update this page when that changes!

πŸ’― Best Practices

Here are some best practices to apply when using the AI Configuration Assistant:

1) Keep it simple

When writing down a prompt, try to keep your request as simple and objective as possible. Avoid adding details that divert from the main intent of your request. The assistant will still try to interpret your request as well as it can, but it's more prone to make an inaccurate read if your request contains a lot of details

In the example above, the assistant made a guess that is fairly accurate, but may require further refining. Simpler, objective instructions return more accurate results.

2) Linking requests together

The Configuration Assistant is able to process multiple requests at once - if you give it an order of actions to follow, it will be able to make those changes simultaneously without the need of multiple separate commands. Just make sure your request is objective and clearly explained and the assistant will take care of the rest!

3) Reverting changes

Made a change that ended up not looking the way you wanted? You can easily revert it by asking the assistant to revert previous changes!

4) Grammar and syntax checks

The Configuration Assistant can also check and make grammar and syntax revisions to any text in your application. Simply ask for it and the assistant will share a copy of the original and a suggested revision for comparison!

5) Capitalization and other text adjustments

You can ask the configuration assistant to capitalize words and make other adjustments to your application text to tidy up your application!

6) Checking for words

The configuration assistant can easily search for and edit/replace words in your application. Simply ask for it to look for certain words and it will be able to make the changes on your behalf!

7) Shared Field Groups

The configuration assistant can't make changes to shared field groups yet so whenever you try to make a change to a field that is part of a shared field group, you should see a message similar to this:
