💡 Please use this guide if:
The layers you are trying to share are private and
You are using ArcGIS Online
There is no need to create a group if your layers are public.
If you are on ArcGIS Enterprise and your layers are private, please reach out to [email protected] and we will work with you on finding the best solution.
⚙️ Create a Group and add GovWell to it
Click on 'Groups' on the top menu and click on 'My Groups' in the blue sub-menu.
Click on the “Create group” button under the “Groups” header and enter the following inputs in the modal that pops up:
Name: “GovWell Group - {City/County Name}”
Summary: “For sharing GIS information with GovWell”
Who can view this group?: “Everyone (public)”
Who can be in this group? “Any organization’s members”
How can people join this group? “By invitation”
Who can contribute content? “All group members”
Who can see the full list of members on the group's Members tab? “Anyone who can view the group”
This will set up a read-only, invite-only connection for GovWell to be able to read data from the ArcGIS instance.
In the newly created GovWell Group, click 'Invite members' on the right side.
Toggle on 'Search all ArcGIS Online organization members' and search for 'ben.cohen2'. Click on 'ben.cohen2' and click 'Invite members' at the bottom.
Ben will receive an email notification to log in to Esri and accept the invite. Once this is done he will email you for you to continue the flow.
🗺️ Share the relevant layers with GovWell
Log in to the ArcGIS Online Portal and navigate to 'Content' and click on the 'My Content' tab on the top right sub-menu
For each layer you would like to share with GovWell:
Click on the Title of the layer
Click 'Share' on the right side
Click 'Edit group sharing' near the bottom
Select 'GovWell Group - {City/County Name}' and click 'OK' on the bottom
Click 'Save' at the bottom.
