How to submit an Application

Learn how to apply for anything with GovWell

Time to submit a new application! To apply, please log in to your GovWell account at https://app.govwell.com/ and go to your Records page (the first button on the left side panel).

On your Records page, look for the 'New Submittal' button.

A list of all the locations GovWell works with will be displayed. Search for the location you're applying with and click the name or crest to proceed to the next step.

Once you select the location you're applying with, you'll be directed to the City Portal. For demonstration purposes, we will be submitting an application in our test environment, Gotham City.

"On your City Portal, you can find the services offered by the city. In this case, Gotham City offers Building Permits, Business Licenses, Citizen Requests, Code Complaints, and more! Further down, you’ll find the contact information for the relevant location staff. Use these contacts for any questions specific to the location.

Now, let's start our application! For demonstration purposes, we’re planning to build a new residence, so we’ll apply for a permit. Click on 'Building Permit' and then 'Residential - New Construction'.

Every application has a specific set of rules and requirements that must be followed each time you apply. Before you begin an application, a small window will appear to inform you of what you'll need to have prepared before making your submission.

You will then be taken to complete the application form. The information required in each form depends on the application you're submitting, but you will generally need to provide your personal and contact details, the address related to the request, and any relevant mandatory or optional documentation. The required fields are marked with a red asterisk (*) and must be completed for the application to be submitted. The more information you provide, the easier it will be for the application reviewer to process, so be sure to include as much as you can!

If you need more time to gather all the required information, you can save your application as a draft by clicking 'Save as Draft.' Your draft will be saved on your Records page for easy access!

Click Next to review all the information in your application and click 'Submit' to formally submit it! An email confirming the submittal will be sent to your inbox.
