Congratulations! You’ve successfully created your GovWell account and are now ready to access your municipality's services in just a few easy steps.
After creating your account and confirming your email address (if you haven’t created your account yet, please follow our account creation guide here), you will be directed to your personal portal.
This portal will be your hub for all your tasks with GovWell. Navigating this page should be quite straightforward after just a few minutes, so let’s take a quick tour of what you can do!
First, let’s focus on the sidebar on the left side of your screen:
Records: This is where you’ll find all your projects, including current and past projects, drafts, and the option to submit a new application to your city.
Tasks: Here, you’ll find any tasks assigned to you. Any actions you need to take to move to the next steps of your open applications will be listed.
Places: This is the list of locations that GovWell works with.
Inspections: Any inspections assigned to your project will be visible on this page.
📚 Records
This is your main page for everything you submit — applications, registrations, code violation complaints, and more will appear here!
Since this page is where you'll be doing most of your work, it’s important to get familiar with it. Let’s take a closer look at each component:
1. New Submittal
Where it all begins: This button allows you to start a new application. If you haven’t submitted an application yet and would like to get started, be sure to check out our How to submit an Application guide!
2. Your Views
GovWell gives you the flexibility to customize what you see, your way. With customizable views, you can create multiple dashboards with different columns and filters, allowing you to efficiently track and manage your portfolio of applications.
We encourage all users to take full advantage of customized views and create their own! Each view allows you to independently adjust the filters and columns to display the information that’s most important to you.

3. Search and Filters
Here, you can easily search for more information within your records and filter results based on predetermined criteria. To filter your results, simply click the 'Add Filters' button and select the filters you'd like to apply. You can also save these filters to keep them in your current view for future visits — just click the 'Save changes to (...)' button on the right side of your page after applying a filter!
4. Manage Columns
Use this feature to manage which columns you want to see and their order! By clicking the 'Manage Columns' button, a menu will appear on the right side of your screen, allowing you to reorganize columns and hide or reveal them.
5. Your Records
This is the list of records you’ve applied to. It includes all submitted records as well as those saved as drafts. The information displayed here is influenced by your Views, Filters, and Manage Columns settings.
🚧 Tasks
The Your Tasks page shares some similarities with the 'Records' page, but you can think of it as the list of tasks directly assigned to you. In other words, any task that's assigned to you during the application process will be listed here!
This means that if you have multiple tasks assigned to one application, you’ll see multiple entries for the same application number, each corresponding to a different task. This is super helpful in preparing you for the tasks at hand.
The Your Tasks view is very similar to the Records page, with the main difference being the columns that specifically track the tasks assigned to you and their status. Managing columns and views works the same way as on the Records page!
📍 Places
A simple view of all the locations GovWell works with - clicking on each respective location card takes you to the respective GovWell portal!
👀 Inspections
All inspections linked to your applications are displayed on this page. The 'Inspections' view works similarly to the 'Records' view, showing the status and details of inspections that must be passed for your applications to move forward.
In addition to the default views, you can use customizable views and filters to tailor the information to your preferences.
