Every contractor registration has an expiration date - whether it's the registration itself, your policy, or your insurance that needs to be renewed. GovWell helps your jurisdiction track each date and notifies the relevant parties when it's time to begin the renewal process. In your registration page, you can find the expiration date next to the 'Submittal Date' field.

In some jurisdictions, you may also need to track additional expiration dates, such as those for licenses and insurance. This information is typically labeled and displayed in a designated section on the 'Details' page of your records.

When the time to renew your contractor registration comes, GovWell makes it simple - let's do it!

📆 When to renew your registration

As your registration’s expiration date approaches, you’ll receive an email notification letting you know that your registration will be expiring soon. If no action is taken by the expiration date, a follow-up email will inform you that your registration has expired. Both emails include a button that takes you directly to your application.

You should also see the task to renew your registration in your 'To-do' list:

✍️ Renewing the registration

In your registration record, you’ll see a new task on the right side of the screen prompting you to start the license renewal. Click on the task to begin the renewal process.

The registration renewal menu will open on the right side of your screen. In this menu, you’ll see the most recent copy of your license. Review the registration details to ensure everything is up to date. If you need to upload new documentation - such as updated license or insurance papers - you can do so here. Once submitted, your updated registration information will be sent to the jurisdiction staff for review. A 'Waiting for Staff to Review Application' notice will appear on the right side of your registration page.

At this stage, the staff member reviewing your application will notify you if any additional updates or documents are needed. If your application is approved, it will move to the Fee Payment stage. You’ll receive an email notification with details about your payment.

To review your fees and pay them, simply go to the 'Fees' tab! You can view your invoice for the fee details and pay using the orange 'Pay' button.

Once you paid your fee, jurisdiction staff will issue and email you your new license! You can also find it under the 'Files' tab of your application page.

And that's it! Your contractor registration is now renewed!
